Join re-enactors from across the land as we gather for the 2019 East Lothian Battle Weekend, commemorating and bringing to life the dramatic events of the Battle of Dunbar in 1650.
See Oliver Cromwell leading his troops into battle against the determined Scots forces, and discover what life was like in the armies of the British Civil Wars.

11.00 Living history camps open
11.30 Giant map presentation - help direct the troops as we discover where the armies deployed
12.00 Cromwellian infantry display - arena display by the English foot soldiers
12.30 Scots Lancers display - see the Scottish cavalry put through their paces
13.00 Skirmish at the shepherd's hut - an English outpost is surprised by the Scots
13.30 Scottish foot display - see the grey-coated infantry at their drill
14.00 Children’s Battle - time for the youngsters to get involved
14.30 Councils of War - listen in as the commanders make their crucial decisions
15.00 BATTLE OF DUNBAR - look on as a key phase of the battle is recreated before you
16.00 Book launch - a new study of the battlefield by local historian Arran Johnston
17.00 Camps close
In between displays, you'll be able to walk amongst the tent lines and talk to the soldiers about their clothing, equipment, and life in a seventeenth century army. There will also be a expert display of historical swordsmanship techniques.
There will be a children's activity area, including crafts and even a foam-sword fencing arena!
